Natural History Articles: About Animals

These natural history articles provide basic information about the lives of the mammals, insects, butterflies and birds that we see every day. Hopefully these articles will provide answers or explanations to some of the animal behavior you see while nature journaling. It is fun to identify animals and plants but the deep understanding and connection to nature is when we understand why things happen. I grew tired of knowing the names of every tree and bird in my neighborhood. I wanted to understand how we all work together to create our ecosystem communities. That is when I began to observe behavior more and more. Sometimes I think we simply identify plants or animals because it takes less effort that spending time observing. natural history comes in.
