About Donna Long

My name is Donna Long and here is a little about me and Connecting-with-Nature.net.

I started writing Connecting-with-nature.net in the summer of 2006. The study of the wonderful world around me has been a passion of mine for my whole life. I notice events and phenomena that my fellow city dwellers take no notice of or care about.

I have been keeping a nature journal since 1990.

I also enjoy taking nature photographs. You can see some of my photos throughout the site.

I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My nature study and journaling often takes place in my own backyard and the natural areas close to home. My backyard as been become a "Certified Wildlife Habitat" through the National Wildlife Federation. And I am a Certified Master Home Gardener.

I am a nature writer and amateur naturalist. I often write on the topics of nature, ecology, the environment and native plant gardening. I carefully research all the topics I cover. Research is where my professional training as a librarian comes in handy.

This website is a labor of love for me. It is my hope that itis a help to those who enjoy nature journaling as much as I do.
